Cheryl Meisner Dances to Freestyle Victory at CDI-W Blainville
Cheryl Meisner of Blandford, NS, closed out the CDI-W Blainville Summer Classic by winning the Grand Prix Freestyle on Sunday, June 21, at the Blainville Equestrian Park north of Montreal, QC aboard John Risley's Paganini with a score of 72.150%. Jacqueline Brooks & Gran Gesto finish in second place (70.150%) with Simone Williams & Wunder Ein finishing third (67.300%). Full story to come!
Lee Tubman Makes it Two-for-Two at CDI-W Blainville Summer Classic
For the second day in a row, Lee Tubman claimed victory riding Ducat Development's De La Rosa at the CDI-W Blainville Summer Classic held June 18-21 at the Blainville Equestrian Park north of Montreal, QC earning a score of 69.123%. Former Young Rider Leah Wilson rode to second place with Amusant (66.754%) with another former Young Rider, Julie Watchorn & Quintesse, coming in third (66.579%). Full story to come!
Jacqueline Brooks and Cheryl Meisner Dominate at CDI-W Blainville
Olympian Jacqueline Brooks of Mount Albert, ON, bested a starting field of 11 horses to win the Grand Prix test (66.894%) on her 2008 Olympic mount Gran Gesto, owned by Brinc Ltd. and Anne Welch. Finishing close behind Brooks for second place was Cheryl Meisner of Blandford, NS riding John Risley's Paganini (66.426%). Olympian Belinda Trussell & Robyn Eames' Anton finished third with 64.851%. Rochelle Kilberg & Simone Williams Win Team Bronze at the 2009 Sydney CDI3* Invitational, Australia
Rochelle Kilberg of Surrey, BC, and Simone Williams of Navan, ON, won the team bronze medal at the Sydney CDI 3*/CDI–Y International Dressage Derby being held in Sydney, Australia, May 7–9, 2009. The event, hosted at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre at Horsley Park, site of the 2000 Olympic Games, is the only CDI3* held in Australia each year.

Tina Irwin of Stouffville, ON, has been named the Dressage Canada Red Scarf Equestrian Athlete of the Month for April. Traveling to Florida to compete on the winter dressage circuit, Irwin, 28, earned top scores at The Grand Prix level with her long-time partner Amicelli (Amigo x Calypso III), a 13-year-old Holsteiner gelding owned by Ute Busse and Wendy Beresford.

Advanced Notification Regarding Anabolic Steroids and Fluphenazine
The Equine Canada Equine Medication Control Committee (EMCC) is announcing the following medication control information.
Anabolic Steroids - As of June 1, 2009, drug testing of horses competing in Equine Canada sanctioned competitions will include testing for anabolic steroids.
Fluphenazine Guideline and Warning - As of June 1, 2009, the drug testing method for horses competing in Equine Canada sanctioned competitions will allow for the detection of fluphenazine for at least 45 days from the date the drug is administered.
Equine Canada members are responsible for keeping up to date on this information.
